How to add new custom fields to order?

0 votes
In my checkout process, I'm allowing users to customize each product in their order.

From everything I've gathered, most of the info about the order itself is stored in dtb_order and then the information about each specific product in that order is passed off to dtb_order_detail.

What is the most efficient way to add new custom info to each product? Should I just add the appropriate fields to the dtb_order_detail table in MySQL and then push values to them during the order process? Or is there a better function built into EC Cube that can help me implement this? Or a different approach entirely that I'm overlooking?

Thanks!

Hello Justcubed.

The easy answer is yes. Add the new fields to the order table.  You may have to change a few select/insert/update statements to make this work on your site.

If you need more detailed information, please let me know

Thanks for the question,

Mike
