Accessing uniqid before checkout process

0 votes
In my store, I need to save certain shopping preferences for an order before the checkout process. For example, if a user selects a certain customization for their product, it needs to be saved and associated with that order. I'm handling the data in a custom table that's organized by uniqid to seperate the orders ( $objSiteSess->getUniqId() )

I've noticed that if I try to call the uniqid function above and use it on the detail page (where my customization is happening), that it changes to a different value once the user hits the checkout process.

Is there a way to maintain the same uniqid for a shopping session before and during checkout? I hope that makes sesne.

Thanks in advance!

Hello JustCubed,

GetUniqID is used for creating session Ids. It will create a new random ID if it doesn't exist.

You could create your own random function or possibly you could try to use the unique keys per item in the dtb_order_temp. Just an idea, but it is worth a try.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks agian,

Mike
